Reusing soap bars

Households which use the bath soap bars, often have small portions of leftover soaps. Same holds true for our household.

From the time of COVID-19 pandemic, I started reusing the leftover soap bars. Here's how:
1. Collect the small or broken portions of soap bars in a jar or container. It does not matter whether the soap bars are of different types or fragrances.
2. Collect the soap bar portions at least for 2-3 months
3. Once you have enough soap bars, grate all soap bars in a vessel.

4. Add 20 mL of boiling water and stir gently. Rigorous stirring will lead to foaming.
5. Put this mixture on low heat and add more 10 mL of boiling water with continued stirring.
6. Let the soap mixture heat on a low flame.
7. Once you get the consistency of handwashing soap, turn off the heat.
8. Pour the mixture in a mold or container.
9. Let the soap mixture reach the room temperature on its' own. It will harden after 3-4 hours

10. Release the sides and cut the soap as per the desired size.

The soap is now ready to use.

This is a simple household trick which saves money and allows us to reuse the leftovers.

Uncertainty of life

Life is truely uncertain. I felt it several times, but not this prominently. At least till this week. Earlier this week, we received a phone call to inform us of sad demise of a neighbor. He was around 40 years old. He had a lot of health issues and was in the hospital of some time. Indeed it was disheartening. Life so young was lost. Later this week, I got similar news about a work colleague who met an unexpected end. He was healthy (at least as per the people around him). He was feeling unwell, hence asked his friend to take him to a hospital. The doctor said he was fine and prescribed medications. He still wasn't convinced and was on his way to another hospital. He died on the way. He was in his 30s. When any young person dies, people always come up with conspiracy theories (recent common theory is COVID vaccine). Food review: Blue bird masala penne pasta

While I was buying groceries, I noticed Blue Bird 5 minutes pasta in mast masala flavor. I bought it to try it. The ingredients looked okay. It did not contain refined wheat flour (surprise). Condiments in the taste maker included chilly, pepper, salt, sugar, fenugreek along with other dried vegetables. The penne get cooked in 7-10 minutes. I like my pasta well done, so took about 10 minutes; however al Dante will be within 7 minutes. I also used additional vegetables such as onion, capsicum, carrots, and broccoli. After stir frying the vegetables, I added the pasta and the taste maker. I was feeling adventurous so I added oregano and chilly flakes too. The result was this The pasta tasted delicious. The taste maker works well. Without the vegetables, it would not taste so good. Overall rating: 7/10 Makes a good lazy meal however additional vegetables and condiments are still required.
