The craze of social media

A couple of days ago I came across something very disturbing.

A colleague showed me a social media post. This post was created by my colleague's friend (OP). The post was about an art created by her brother for her daughter.

Normal right? Until it isn't. The OP's brother is a painter an artist. The post shows that her brother had small amount of his blood extracted. This blood was taken on to a palette. He has used his blood to create a painting of his niece (OP's daughter). The girl appears to be three or four years old. He had painted his niece with his own blood on a canvas. This painting was gifted to the niece on her birthday. In this social media post the entire process of creating this painting was shown right from drawing of blood from the painters vein till gifting this painting to his niece on her birthday. The worst part is that the OP had mentioned "I am proud of you brother" as the caption of the post.

After seeing this post I was deeply disturbed and disgusted. I cannot understand how this kind of behaviour is appreciated and rewarded. This behaviour I found to be psychotic. After watching the post, my first thought was that the painter requires psychiatric help. When I saw the caption of the post, I doubled down that not only the painter but also his sister need psychiatric help.

Creating paintings with blood or writing letters with blood are some of the practices that we have shown in the movies. However, this was my first time seeing something like this in reality. It is sickening. Also there was several people who had committed good job well done etc. Are all these people crazy as well? Why is this behaviour praised?

Creating a painting using blood for a toddler this itself is a utterly revolting. Additionally posting this on social media takes it to the next level. Is this the slavery of social media? How far can one go for likes and shares? Is it the pear pressure which leads to praising of such stomach churning behaviour?

This is neurological and psychiatric impairment nothing else.
